What I Wore-keepin' it real

Hello it's already Wednesday?! That means another What I Wore post.  I debated about posting this week since I didn't get many pictures taken and my outfits weren't all that.  And the pics I did get were self portrait mirror pics...oh well says a lot about my crazy week!  But then again, I thought this is the real deal, I'm a wife of a busy guy who works and coaches odd hours, a dance mom, a baseball mom and a busy business owner...so here goes...

On this busy Saturday, our two youngest boys were playing in their first club baseball tournament of the season.  Our daughter had an acting workshop for 6 hours in downtown Phoenix.  Her workshop just happened to be a mile away from some of the greatest thrift and antique stores in town.  It was a great day!  I thoroughly enjoyed myself, met some great shop owners and dealers, and scored some great finds! Katelyn really enjoyed the workshop and learned a lot, my boys won all of their games, and I got to come home and scrub dirty baseball pants...I love it!

Our Booth Got An Update

A couple of friend's and I have been renting a booth in an antique mall near our home since this past March.  It has been a lot of fun and a learning experience as well.  We have done fairly well especially considering this antique mall is new and had just opened when we joined on.  Also considering we are at the tail end of the slowest season of our year here in Arizona...summer.  We are looking forward to the cooler temperatures that bring in lots of winter visitors to our area, as well as make it more enjoyable for everyone else in the area to shop.

With that in mind, as well as the Holiday season right around the corner, we decided it was time to spruce up our booth.  We wanted to increase the height of our booth walls so we would have more room for shelves and to hang things.  We are allowed to go up 32" higher than the walls that were provided.
We are resourceful and like to DIY, so we didn't want to spend more than we had to on this project.  We came up with a plan to use some leftover plywood and some salvaged pallet wood that we had at our home.

The only thing we had to buy was some 2x4's to frame with.

Joe worked hard on this project for one full day...it was one full hot AZ day too!

Here's our very intricate design plan ;)

And the first sections of the walls.

This is what our booth walls looked like before.  This white trellis wall is from the booth behind us.

Here are the pallet wall sections that Joe pre-built at home and then brought in to install.

My friends and booth partners had some extra shelves on hand and Joe hung those up as well.

The result...a great looking space with so much more room for merchandising! We are so happy! It has already paid off, things were selling as we were working in the booth on the day of installation.

As I remember from working in retail management, presentation is important!

Thank you to my awesome husband Joe for working so hard on this! Thank you also to my booth partners Suzanne and Melinda for brininging in the shelves and for helping out with this project.
We really appreciate it!

What I Wore-White Thrifted Shirt

Oh boy did I mention what a great time I had thrifting last week?!  I came upon a great sale and scored some really cool stuff....clothes, things for my home and for my booth.  This white shirt was one of them.  I love that it is light weight and the length is great and what a fun belt that came with it too! I have already worn it twice, once with white capris to the youth theatre with my daughter and to church as shown here.

White shirt: Marks & Spencer, thrifted / Skirt: Old Navy, old  / Shoes: Jellypop, Famous Footwear / Purse: thrifted / Sunnies: Kohl's  /
Jewelry: old / Belt, came with shirt

Speaking of my recent thrifty finds...I'm going to have fun with them!  Among my finds are a few new-to-me sweaters and a scarf, it really needs to cool down soon in AZ so I can wear them!

Hope you're all having a great week!

What I Wore-head wraps and chambray

There's a couple of things that I've been crushing on lately...and they are headwraps and chambray/denim shirts.  Both have been a fun way to add a new look to some of my outfits.  Plus, as I've mentioned before, these headwrap/scarf things are so forgiving, yes, they can hide all kinds of bad things going on with my hair...

Shirt: Limited, thrifted / Headwrap: thrifted scarf / Necklace: thrifted / Earrings: old / Sunnies: Kohl's

Shorts: St. John's Bay, JCPenney, thrifted / Purse: thrifted / Bracelets: old

Shoes: Mudd, Famous Footwear, old

Now for the fun with Chambray!

Have you seen this on Pinterest?

Denim shirt fashion pairings...Yay I just thrifted 3 different denim & chambray shirts!
Source: Pinterest, fashionworship.com
I had just thrifted 3 shirts while on vacation in WA, so I was so very happy to see all of this inspiration!
With all of the above ideas, I shouldn't run out of ways to use my shirts any time soon...

Here's a look at my outfit for church.

Chambray shirt: Faded Glory, Walmart, thrifted / Tank: old / Skirt: Ann Taylor Loft, old / Belt: thrifted / Purse: thrifted / Shoes: Sahara, Famous Footwear, old / Necklace: Ann Taylor Loft, old / Earrings: The Limited, old / Bracelets: old

Anyone see a theme here?  I'm still 'Reviving My Closet' and using mainly old & new-to-me-thrifted items.  It's working!  I no longer yearn for a larger shopping budget, or complain that I don't have anything to wear.

As a matter of fact, I had a great little thrifting day today...can't wait to share the cute clothing items I found.
The weather is going to have to cool down a bit for a few of them...sweaters and a scarf...oh I can't wait!  I love fall and winter outfits! It's right around the corner!

Hunter's name sign, a praise and a prayer request

This was a very special project for a very special baby.  We love this baby boy and family! He has been through a lot in his short little life.  He just underwent heart surgery this past week at Los Angeles Children's Hospital to have the Ross Procedure to replace his aortic valve in his heart.  He is such a little trooper and his family, his mom Lindsay, dad Steve and big 18 month old brother Corben are so amazing, strong and full of faith.

Kelly Benbow Photography (A dear friend of both of ours, took these amazing photos before the family went to CA for Hunter's surgery)

Hunter is recovering from surgery now and could use your prayers.  We are believing for a miraculous recovery and healing for this little guy!  God has special plans for his life and he has already touched so many lives.  God Bless him!

I was so honored, and may have cried a little, when Hunter's mama asked if I would make something for his room with his name on it.  She said she trusted me to do it and she would love whatever I did...I was able to complete the project and deliver it to them before they left for CA to have Hunter's surgery.  My daughter and I enjoyed a sweet visit with them.  This is Katelyn holding Hunter...he's the most precious and adorable baby!  Hunter's mama, Lindsay has been Katelyn's ballet teacher for many years.  We love and adore her and have so enjoyed watching her become a beautiful wife and mama to these boys of hers!

Before I got started on the project I checked out some of my Pinterest boards for inspiration.  As always I found some inspiration and got going on it.

I bought the paper maiche letters at Joann's. I painted them with some green paint that I had on hand. See our cute Bailey girl checking out the project :)

I remembered that I had some branches that I could use from this old faux tree that my dad made for us several years ago.

I had Joe help me cut them apart.

I laid it out and experimented with how I would attach the letters.

As always, Joe has great ideas and helped me with this...seriously he can do just about anything construction related and he's creative too!  So his idea was to drill holes into the letters and thread the twine through with a large needle and tie a knot to attach.  Love it!

I tied each letter to the branch and it was done.

Katelyn & I delivered it and I got to hold that sweet baby again and Katelyn got to meet him for the first time :)  Oh I also painted a big 'H' for him, just like the big 'C' I painted for his brother Corben.  Their mama is putting the letters on the boy's bedroom doors.  So cute!

This is a picture that Lindsay texted me the day they hung up Hunter's sign in his room!  They love it!

Please keep this precious baby and family in your prayers! Thank you friends!

Hunter & Corben...sweet brother love!

I just got a praise report from his mama and she said, "He's doing good! Continuing to head in the right direction. They are able to be taking the steps to close his chest. He is responding well to the medicine weans. God is so good Stacy"
Thank you Lord! We are crying happy tears right now! Praising & Rejoicing over here!

What I Wore-Denim Shirt

While we were on vacation in Washington last month, I scored 3 denim shirts while out thrifting.  This is one of them and even though it's a bit hot right now in AZ for layering, I couldn't wait any longer!  I had been wanting to find a couple of denim or chambray shirts and was super excited when I found this one!  I will definitely have fun with it as well as the other 2...Ohh the possibilities...

Denim Shirt: Almost Famous, thrifted / Cami: Pac Sun, old / Skirt: old, can't even remember where or when I got it?! / Shoes: Mudd, Famous Footwear (I think) / Purse: thrifted / Necklace: gift that my mom just brought back from a shopping trip to LA garment district / Bracelets: old / Earrings: old

Did you get a chance to check out my last post of my daughter Katelyn?  I started a new project called 'What She Wore'  We still like to play dress up over here! How 'bout that!?

What She Wore-Thrifty Edition

I'm starting a new project called 'What She Wore' featuring my daughter Katelyn! She's my beautiful, photogenic and stylish girl!  Her love for fashion started very early.  Growing up she loved dress up, shopping and twirly dresses and when she was 8 years old she wanted to start her own clothing business.  I'm sure she will do it, along with all of the other goals she has for herself.

She has a knack for pulling cute outfits together.  Like most teenage girls, she loves to shop at the mall with her friends.  But after some coaching from this thrifty mama, she has even turned into quite the little thrifter!  It took some time for her to get used to the whole thrift store thing...the first few times were interesting with her...ummmm, well because you know Goodwill smells a bit different than Hollister and Abercrombie ;) but after going thrifting with me a few times, she soon discovered how much fun it was and especially all of the great deals to be had out there!  She still likes to go to the mall though, oh and shop online too, she has a knack for that as well!

So here are a couple of her recent outfits.  These looks feature quite a few of our recent thrifty finds!

On this day Katelyn had an audition for a movie here in Phoenix.  She had to dress like a preppy, fashionable, high school girl.  We pulled this look together from some recent Goodwill finds.  I thought she looked adorable and her audition went very well.  I was so proud of her! Hopefully she will get a callback!

Shirt: Abercrombie, thrifted / Shorts: Gap, thrifted  / Belt: thrifted / Shoes: Toms, (she saved up and bought these herself) / Purse: Brahmin, thrifted

This next outfit she recently wore to church.  I was so excited when I found this dress for her at a new Goodwill that just opened near our house.  She was with me that day, so she got a chance to try it on and really liked it. Yay that I can still find things she likes....sometimes!  Oh and she found the Brahmin purse, that is also shown in the above outfit, on that same day!  That's my thrifty girl!

Dress: Urban Renewal, thrifted / Shoes: Candies, old / Purse: Brahmin, thrifted / Sunglasses: Ray Ban, gently used, she saved up and bought these on eBay

I love my sweet girl and her fun style! Ohh and her thriftiness too!
